What did Boris Johnson say in Plan B announcement?

Boris Johnson announced the introduction of 'Plan B' restrictions, which were put into place given the rise in Omicron infections.

The PM introduced Covid measures which will see the UK working from home again, as well as more mask-wearing and vaccine passports.

Under Plan B, all but essential workers will be asked to work remotely like they did between March 2020 and last July's Freedom Day from Wednesday, December 15.

Vaccine passports - which the Government has been planning to introduce - will also be launched for large venues like football matches and nightclubs, though negative lateral flow tests will also be suitable to gain entry to large-capacity venues.

At the moment the definition of fully-vaccinated is two jabs rather than three.

Mandatory face masks - the third prong of the Government's Plan B - are already in force for shops and public transport after coming in on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, to stem the rising tide of Omicron.

This has been extended to all "crowded and enclosed settings" which includes theatres and cinemas.

The new restrictions will be brought in with a week's notice, meaning they will begin on Wednesday, December 15.
