Lag plays Pokemon Go in prison on smuggled-in mobile phone… then uploads video to YouTube
Youtube footage shows prisoner hunting down Pokemon characters but has since been taken down on orders from prison chiefs
A LAG has been caught playing Pokemon Go in prison on a smuggled-in mobile phone.
A YouTube video showed him hunting the game’s virtual beasts in jail.
The clip, posted last week, was viewed more than 250 times before it was taken down on the orders of prison chiefs.
A source said: “Smuggled phones in jails are a big problem. But they are usually used for accessing Facebook. The lag obviously couldn’t wait to play.”
Phones are banned in prisons and, if caught, inmates can face up to two extra years inside.
It was revealed last month a lag had set up a Facebook group for prisoners to share tips on sneaking in contraband.
A Prison Service spokesman said: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and this video was removed as soon as it was brought to our attention.
“We are determined to do all we can to prevent prisoners having access to mobile phones.”
The Prison Service refused to reveal which jail the footage was filmed in.
Reports at the weekend claimed inmates at Category C HMP Haverigg, near Millom, Cumbria, were playing Pokemon.
