Parents put on high alert over reports of a clown ‘trying to lure kids into woods’

Residents in South Carolina apartment block say they thought their kids were seeing things until cops found evidence

PARENTS have been put on high alert after a clown was apparently spotted taking and luring children into the woods.

The residents of the apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina, US, were sent a letter by the management telling them there had been numerous complaints about a "clown or a person dressed in clown clothing taking children or trying to lure children [into] the woods."

The police have been looking into the issue and making regular patrols to try and find out who is responsible.

Resident Donna Arnold told locatl TV station WHNS her son and some of the other children had seen the clown hanging around near the basketball court: "I thought my child was seeing things, and then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say "did you see the clown in the woods?'

"They finally sent people out here to check, they found some evidence."

Another resident said she had seen a clown waving at her from the woods which surround the property, and the person was hanging around near some bins.

There are up to 300 children living on the property and community activist Bruce Wilson said he was making sure police were investigating.

"We have about two to three hundred children out here,' Wilson said. 'I want to make sure that law enforcement is doing the right thing."
