CAR CREEP

I was bombarded with creepy texts by We Buy Any Car worker who offered ‘better deal’ if I ‘made it worth his while’

A STUNNED We Buy Any Car customer was bombarded with “creepy” texts and calls after she tried selling her motor - including being offered a discount for sexual favours.

Harley Gambetta, 26, was told the firm would offer more cash for her Citroen C1 if she hooked up with a “weird” salesman she asked for a quote.

After initially meeting him at her local WBAC branch, the married worker contacted her off his own personal mobile saying: “It’s me from We Buy Any Car. I'm on a day off if you want to meet?”

He disturbingly later said: “I can do you a better deal if you make it worthwhile for me?"

The salesman continued to call and text shocked insurance worker Harley even when she turned down his advances, demanding she "let me know" about meeting outside work.

The man, who worked at a We Buy Any Car in West Sussex, has since been sacked from the Philip Schofield-advertised firm.

Harley, from Brighton, East Sussex, said: “It was a bit creepy.

"I just dread to think what might have happened if I was naive enough to go back to meet him thinking I would get a better deal.

“The whole episode dragged on over three or four days and made me really anxious. It was a weird thing to do.

“There were around half a dozen calls in total and the suggestion I would get more money by making it worthwhile for him is vile.

“As a young woman it made me want to warn others about the behaviour of this guy because so much dreadful stuff goes on these days.”

We Buy Any Car said the worker had only been with the firm for a few weeks.
A spokesman said: "Following an immediate investigation, the employee was dismissed due to his gross misconduct.

“We do not condone the actions taken by him and these actions do not represent the rest of our team.

"We wholeheartedly apologise to Ms Gambetta for her experience."

It follows a similar experience in July when a woman received a "creepy" text by an NHS Track and Trace worker who knocked on her door to make sure she was isolating.

Model Charlotte Roffey, 27, was left shaken after the man accessed her details to ask if he was allowed to save her number - and if she had a husband.
