Tory MP and ex-chair of Conservatives for Britain MP Steven Baker demanded civil servants blocking Brexit are fired

He said: “Any official working to oppose our exit from the EU should be summarily fired. If necessary, emergency legislation should be passed to make it possible.”

His response was echoed by fellow Tory MP Andrew Bridgen who said mandarins would be “stepping beyond their remit”.

It came as senior Tory sources claimed Chancellor Philip Hammond was acting as a “block” over plans for withdrawal because he insists Britain must remain in the single market.
