Jemison, AL train wreck – One dead and 4 others airlifted to Children’s of Alabama Hospital after train crashes into car

A TRAIN collided with a car Monday afternoon, leaving one person dead in Jemison, Alabama.

Police said the crash took place around 4:27 p.m. at the Guy Street railroad crossing.

Two adults and three children were inside the vehicle but it’s unknown how it ended up at the crossing. The driver was a 40-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jemison Police said that a 24-year-old woman was airlifted to UAB Hospital. An 11-year-old girl was also airlifted to Children’s of Alabama. 

A 16-year-old boy and a 13-year old girl were transported to Children’s of Alabama by ambulance. 

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

“This is a horrible and tragic situation. Our hearts, though and prayers are with everyone involved and who have been affected.” read a statement on the Jemison Police Department’s .

“This is an active investigation being conducted by our Traffic Homicide Investigators and will be for quite some time.
