Five stabbed at Notting Hill Carnival including two 15-year-old boys, as police make 105 arrests
Four arrested for sexual offences, 24 for having an offensive weapon, two for GBH and 74 for drugs
FIVE people, including two 15-year-old boys, were stabbed on the first day of the Notting Hill Carnival.
One 15-year-old was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being stabbed at 4.25pm on the event's Family Day.
His condition has since improved and a 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of GBH.
Just minutes after the first attack a 20-year-old man was stabbed in Portobello Road.
At 5pm two more teenagers - aged 15 and 16 - were stabbed in Ladbroke Grove, police have said their conditions are not life threatening.
The fifth stabbing victim appealed to police officers for help at Kensal Rise tube station. He had suffered a cut to the head.
Yesterday, thousands of party-goers took to the streets to honour the carnival - an old Caribbean tradition - in a wave of colour and music.
But not all revellers were out for a good time and 105 people were arrested - 13 more than on the first day of last year's carnival.
Four people were arrested for sexual offences, 24 for having an offensive weapon, two for GBH and 74 for drug offences.
Police also seized 150 canisters of nitrous oxide as well as 500 cans of lager being illegally sold from a wheelie bin.
This year, police "super-recognisers" are sat inside a CCTV control room seeking out offenders committing crimes and anyone with bail conditions which ought to stop them attending the event.
The force will also be trialling a facial recognition system to help identify wanted offenders, by using cameras which scan the faces of those passing by and flag up potential matches from custody images.
