Luckily, no one inside the train was injured, Kelly said.

The devastating crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ridgeview and Wagstaff roads, which is a rural area about 75 miles outside of Topeka.

It's too early to determine the cause of the crash, the Miami County Sheriff captain said, but "it doesn't appear to be a malfunction of the train or the crossing."
