THE French knife nut accused of stabbing to death Brit backpacker Mia Ayliffe-Chung in a frenzied attack in Australia had been desperate to sleep with her after they both began working on a farm.
Obsessed Smail Ayad, 29 -- who it is said has a fascination with a UFC ring girl that bares a resemblance to 21-year-old Mia -- had been trying to bed the Derbyshire woman "for a while", according to the owner of a sugar cane farm where they worked.
He is accused of stabbing to death poor Mia as well as savagely attacking Brit hero Tom Jackson, who was stabbed 15 times in the face after rushing to save her at the hostel where they were staying.
The French national is thought to have screamed "Allahu Akbar" during the bloodshed.
Several other guests were injured at the hostel in Home Hill, south of Townsville, Queensland, including a man who broke both ankles jumping from a balcony to escape the horror.
Lorraine Gorizia, owner of the nearby farm that often employs guests from Shelly's Backpackers hostel, said she never thought Ayad was capable of such violence.
“He was a nice bloke, very quiet, and smiled,” she told the .
“He smiled the whole time.
“I didn’t think he would be like that, honestly; I did not think that … he was a very quiet boy."
Describing his fascination with Mia -- who said she was "living the dream" in a tragic final Facebook post before her murder -- Ms Gorizia said: "He had been trying to have sex with Mia for a while.
"The poor kid, she was a gorgeous girl … she didn’t want that."
Investigators are working on the theory that Ayad couldn't accept being turned down by gorgeous Mia.
