Theresa May unveils £40m red-tape slashing plan to boost tourism post Brexit
Theresa May will unveil the £40m Tourist Action Plan to make Britain a world-class tourist destination
HOLIDAYMAKERS will soon be able to sink a welcoming pint at B&Bs – under a tourist plan to be unveiled by Theresa May.
The Prime Minister will today announce plans to slash red-tape to allow B&Bs to serve guests a “welcome drink” as part of a move to make Brexit-Britain a world-class tourist-destination.
Bed and breakfast operators have been forced to apply for a booze licence if they want to offer guests a glass of wine or serve alcohol with an evening meal.
But the PM is vowing to axe the laws in favour of “sensible regulation” that helps UK operators.
B&Bs will also be allowed to pick guests up from the train station – without having to apply for a vehicle licence.

Other proposals in the £40 million Tourist Action Plan involve funding for the South West Coastal Path Association and cash for UK Countryside Tours, so it can put together rural holiday packages aimed at the lucrative US market.
Mrs May – who has just returned from a walking holiday in Switzerland – said: “Tourism is vitally important to the UK and the sector goes from strength to strength.
“Our stunning scenery, centuries old monuments and cultural traditions continue to draw visitors from both home and abroad.
“The British people’s decision to leave the European Union creates real opportunities for growth.
“And we will make sure Britain is even more attractive, accessible and welcoming to visitors.”
