HARROWING emergency audio from the tragedy-plagued Astroworld festival has revealed how terrified fans were "trampled, passed out, and couldn't breathe" in the deadly crush.

As the Astroworld death toll rose to nine, audio of police radio traffic, obtained by the Houston Chronicle, has given insight into how quickly authorities learned of the complaints in the crowd.

Recordings from law enforcement radio heard one official saying just 20 minutes into Travis Scott's performance: "Looks like folks are coming out of the crowd complaining of difficulty breathing, crushing-type injuries.

"Seems like the crowd is compressing on itself.”

Another was heard saying "the crowd is compressing."

According to the newspaper, at 9.30pm an officer is heard saying: "I’m at the medical tent.

"There’s a lot of people trampled and they’re passed out at the front stage.”

As Scott performed, another audio heard someone saying that "multiple reports of people getting injured" were coming in.

"We have another report of cardiac situation with CPR by the stage," the official added.

Someone at the medical tent was heard in another audio entry saying there were reports of "multiple people trampled" and "passed out at front of stage."

The same person also said people were having trouble breathing.

Meanwhile, shocking video captured at the doomed festival appears to show members of the Houston Police Department laughing and filming Travis Scott more than 15 minutes after the concert was declared a "mass casualty event."

In the 15-second clip, timed at 10.02pm exclusively obtained by The Sun, Scott is seen jumping around on stage with guest performer Drake on Friday night as a line of Houston PD officers stand just beneath them at the foot of the stage.
