In August 2020, Kyle, who was 17 years old at the time, crossed state lines to attend a protest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the shooting of Jacob Blake.
During the protest, he fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber and later wounded Gaige Grosskreutz, an act that lawyers are claiming was self-defense.
On November 10, 2021, Kyle was seen on the stand breaking down in tears as he recalled the events, stating that he "didn't do anything wrong."
He faced six criminal charges, including first-degree reckless homicide and first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a basic sentence of life in prison.
On November 19, 2021, Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all charges.
