As one of the group opens the fridge door others can be heard shrieking in terror as, sitting comfortably in the door, a giant rat appears before their eyes.

The footage, sent to local news channel , is believed to have been recorded at the Argentine Workers Technical School in San Juan, Argentina.

A report on the same website said the students had asked not to be named but had claimed rats were living in the school's walls with droppings found in a number of different locations around the building.

It's understood the school's headteacher checked CCTV footage to make sure the enormous rodent hadn't been planted in the kitchen by pranksters.

One of the boys who found the rat told the broadcaster: "The headteacher was convinced the rat could not have got into the building, but it looks as though it got in through a window and crawled into the fridge through the back."

Local news reports claim there is a problem with rubbish in the area and that is what has attracted the rodents to the school.
