Organisers were hoping to raise an incredible £800,000 for the Royal British Legion.

After Covid prevented sellers from face-to-face collecting hundreds of servicemen and women hit the capital’s streets shaking tins at railway stations and in offices throughout the capital.

Telly presenter Ross was joined at Liverpool Street station by magician Richard Jones, who serves in the Household Cavalry.

Britain’s Got Talent winner Richard said: “Because of Covid even more veterans than ever need our help.”

Ross said: “It is not always the ones who are obviously wounded but there are those who look perfectly normal on the outside but have unseen metal issues because of what they have experienced.

The RBL are aiming to raise £45million for veterans and their families with this year’s poppy appeal.
