ED'S NEW TOON

Ed Sheeran planning an animated big-screen musical as Equals romps to top of album charts

ED SHEERAN will claim the fastest-selling album in the UK for four years when he romps to the top of the charts with Equals on Friday.

But he is already thinking about what is next – and has revealed he wants to create his own musical.

During an interview in Germany Ed said: “I would love to do a musical. Hopefully an animated musical, because I can’t dance.

And rather than it being a West End stage show, he hopes to have it appearing on the big screen as an animation.

During an interview in Germany he said: “I would love to do a musical. Hopefully an animated musical, because I can’t dance.

“With an animated musical you could have the character be able to dance.”

With the sheer number of hits Ed has, he would have no shortage of tunes to make it a massive success.

He has added to his huge collection with Equals, which had sold 124,096 copies here by yesterday morning following its release last Friday.

It means he will surpass the 125,000 copies shifted by his last album, No.6 Collaborations Project, in its first week in 2019.

I’m told it is also the biggest sale in a week for an album in the UK since his third album Divide, in 2017.

The beers are on Ed.
