KELLY Frey has been one of Pittsburgh's leading news anchors for two decades.
In November 2021, speculation began that she might not be returning to her role and would instead be moving on to something different.
Who is Kelly Frey?
Frey is known as an American journalist who has been with WTAE since 2000.
Prior to her role, Frey obtained her degree from the University of Pittsburgh and began her career at local stations in Louisiana and Arkansas before returning to where it all began.
Frey is also known as Pittsburgh Magazine's 2017 Pittsburgher of the year and a breast cancer survivor.

Did Kelly Frey leave WTAE?
On November 3, 2021, it was revealed that after 21 years, Frey would be departing the station after unsuccessful contract negotiations.
“After consideration and discussion over her next contract, Kelly Frey is leaving WTAE Channel 4," the station said in a statement. "Kelly has been an important part of our family and success over the last 21 years. We wish Kelly and her family all the best."
At this time, it remains unclear what Frey will do next but many believe she will be spending more time with her family, including her son Bennett, who was born with a rare brain malformation called Dandy-Walker syndrome along with epilepsy.
She is often seen advocating about special needs issues on her social media pages.

As the news started to spread, many took to social media to share their frustration over the decision.
"How the F is Kelly Frey gone !!??," one fans asked on Twitter. "She was /is the best anchor you have/had @WTAE."
"Unbelievable," another fan added in. "Only reason I watched the morning news in WTAE."
One fan then went on to call her a "breath of sunshine every morning."
At this time, Frey has not publicly addressed her departure.
