A HIGH school in Alabama was placed on lockdown after a student reportedly spotted someone with a rifle as cops confirmed no active shooter.
School officials at Midfield Senior High School in Midfield, , dismissed their students early on Tuesday following a lockdown triggered by reports of a person with a gun seen nearby.
School representatives placed the facility on lockdown as a precaution but ultimately decided to dismiss classes early.
The Midfield Police Department confirmed to The Sun there are no reports of a gun sighting or shooting at the campus.
Police were investigating the report and said there is no legitimate threat to the facility.
Per , a person with a rifle was reportedly spotted walking near the school.
The outlet reported, citing Midfield Mayor Gary Richardson, that people are often seen hunting rabbits in the area, even though they’re not supposed to.
Richardson reiterated the move to close early was purely precautionary.
