Man faces trial for ‘bombarding BBC presenter Emily Maitlis with letters and writing to her mother’
Edward Vines, 45, is due to stand trial before a judge and jury early next month
A MAN accused of stalking a BBC TV presenter by sending her letters and writing to her mother is to face trial before a judge and jury.
Edward Vines was remanded in custody before his trial on September 1.
The 45-year-old had previously denied charges of breaching a restraining order by sending letters to BBC Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis between May 10, 2015 and June 25, 2015.
He also denied breaching a restraining order by contacting the journalist's mother between the same dates by sending her emails and letters.
Vines, dressed in a blue striped shirt and a navy coloured blazer appeared in the dock at Oxford Crown Court today and spoke only to confirm his name and address.
Vines denies two counts of breaching a restraining order. He will be tried at Oxford Crown Court on September 1.
He was remanded in custody until the day of trial.
