Toddler suffers ‘multiple injuries’ and airlifted to hospital after being crushed under wall at flooring store

A THREE-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after he was crushed under a wall during a shopping trip.
The toddler was left with multiple injuries after the wall fell on him at Frank's Flooring Store in Darlington today.
Paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance were scrambled to the scene and police cordoned off the surrounding area.
The toddler, who suffered injuries to his pelvis, chest and abdomen, was seen being carried out the store on a stretcher following the horrific incident.
He was flown to nearby James Cook University Hospital where his injuries are said to be serious but not life threatening.
A spokesman for GNAAS said: "Great North Air Ambulance Service were called to assist North East Ambulance Service with a three-year-old patient who had been crushed under a wall.
"The child was treated on scene by the paramedic and doctor team before being flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for further treatment.”

Inspector Pat Pygall, of Durham Police, said: "It was reported that a young child had been inside Frank's Flooring shopping with his parents when, unfortunately, an MDF wall has collapsed onto the child.
"Officers have attended and the child was conscious as he was treated at the scene before he was taken to James Cook University Hospital.
"Our last update is that his injuries are not life-threatening and the investigation has been passed on to Health and Safety inspectors."
Frank's Flooring have since released a statement thanking the emergency services for their response.
A company spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with the child and their family and our staff our shocked and concerned by this accident.
"We would also like to thank the emergency services for their speedy response.
"Our absolute main concern is with the well being of the child and, when the time is right, we will make the Health and Safety Executive fully-aware of the details of the accident."
