How to make Salt Bae’s £1,450 tomahawk steak at home for £37 with ingredients from M&S and Amazon

SUPERMARKETS and online retailers have come together to allow the public to make their own version of Salt Bae’s £1,450 steak at home – for just £37.

Flamboyant Turkish chef Nusret Gokce, known to his millions of followers as Salt Bae, has been flogging the flash cut of meat for an eye watering price.

The internet sensation recently opened his 15th restaurant in Knightsbridge, which has attracted the rich and famous.

Nusret Gokce, has fans falling over themselves to lap up his £850 steaks and £100 burgers, which are wrapped in edible 24-carat gold leaf.

But now Brits can make the golden treat for themselves at home, which weighs in at two kilograms of meat, at just a fraction of the cost.

M&S are selling an Aberdeen Angus Tomahawk steak for just £32, which is 2.2 percent of the entire dish at the top flight London restaurant.

On Amazon 100 sheets of edible gold leaf is available to buy for just £4.99 – giving the chef the option to use silver or rose gold if they want to spice it up.

In order to match up in weight to the Nusr-et meal, people would probably have to buy two tomahawk steaks if they can stomach it.

Cooking instructions for the M&S collection steak say to “season generously” with salt and pepper, but doing it with the flourish of Sale Bae is optional.

They then advise to seal in the pan with butter, garlic and fresh thyme before finishing in the oven and then applying the gold leaf.

Prices at Nusr-Et have been slammed as being completely “off the scale”, so the cheaper, homemade alternative might prove a tastier choice for many Brits.

Celebrities have packed into the restaurant since it opened, with many racking up huge bills, with a Coke costing £39.

One of the first to bag a table was reality star Gemma Collins, who ranked the experience “ten out of ten” despite nearly choking when she saw the £1,450 bill.

Former glamour model Danielle Lloyd treated herself to a £100 gold-wrapped burger, later admitting it was “really expensive” but worth it for “the experience”.

Another anonymous diner racked up an eye-watering £37,000 bill — nearly £5,000 of which was the service charge.

The Knightsbridge branch brings Nusr-et’s global stable of eateries to 15, with others scattered across the UAE, US, Turkey and the Greek island of Mykonos.

Another bill from Nusr-Et Steakhouse in the capital shows the hungry diner paid out a whopping £1,812.40 in total.

The receipt shows the customer bought a single 'golden burger', which cost £100, a £23 salad, two prawn tempura rolls costing £60, and a £10 corn on the cob.
