Five people including a pregnant woman murdered by intruder in ‘one of the most gruesome crimes’ police have seen in Alabama
Derrick Dearman turned himself into police with a woman and a four-month-old baby the only survivors of the attack
A FOUR-month-old child is one of the only survivors of a massacre that killed five people, including a pregnant woman, with Alabama authorities describing the murder scene as one of the worst they have ever seen.
Derrick Ryan Dearman turned himself in to authorities when five bodies were found in a Citronelle home with evidence since suggesting the murders were committed with "multiple weapons", including a gun.
The victims are believed to be related with one of the women about five months pregnant.
Detectives are now examining the home, in the area of Prine and Jim Platt Roads.
Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said the scene was the worst she had seen in her 20 years as a prosecutor.
She said the five people were "brutally and viciously murdered", .
