Karen Danczuk says she’s ‘scarred for life’ after MP hubby Simon kicked in glass door during crazed bust-up on family holiday
The selfie queen was left fearing for her life after violent row at the couple's holiday home in Alicante
ENRAGED Simon Danczuk violently kicked at a thick glass door until it came crashing down on to his ex-wife Karen, leaving her fearing for her life.
The Labour MP was furious after Karen had taken a call from her Spanish boyfriend and locked him out of their holiday home near Alicante.
She was standing directly behind the door when the entire piece of glass dropped from the frame and knocked her to the floor.
Sharp edges slashed at her skin and she regained consciousness to find herself lying in a pool of blood.
Nearly a week later she cries and visibly shakes as she looks at the repaired door and the bandages that cover the 40 stitches on her torso and right hand.
Speaking about the incident for the first time, she admitted to The Sun on Sunday: “I thought he was going to kill me.
“I know I’m going to be scarred for life.
“I will never be able to forget it.
“It was as though I was paralysed with fear.
“I just stood there.
“The last thing I remember is him kicking and shouting, ‘Let me in’.
“I woke up in a pool of blood and thought, ‘I’m going to die’.
“He has troubles — he needs to sort them out’
“I think I’m in shock.
“The last few days have been horrendous.
“I feel sad — my ex-husband, a man I thought was my friend — has done this to me.
“And the boys — their dad did this to their mum.
“The police asked if I wanted to press charges against Simon for domestic violence.
“I said no.
“Do I want to be the person that finally ends his career?
“Do I want to be the person who tells my sons their dad is in prison? No.
“Apart from the boys, I’m no longer part of Simon’s life.
“Enough is enough.
“He has troubles, he needs to sort them out but I won’t be helping.
“He’s had too many chances, this is the final straw.”
The MP, 49, used to have a glittering career but has been suspended after texting a girl of 17.
Then this month he was exposed for romping at his ex-wife’s home with a 22-year-old he met on Twitter while he babysat sons Milton, eight, and Maurice, six.
Despite being separated for more than a year Karen has always stood by him.
The divorced pair were friends who discussed their new romances — including Spaniard David, 29, who she has now known for six months.
The selfie queen has kept the waiter’s identity a secret, but she told her ex-husband about him a few weeks ago.

Karen said: “Simon said he was pleased for me.
“But when I took a call from David, Simon became angry that I was talking to someone instead of being with the boys for a few minutes.”
The drama unfolded last weekend.
Simon flew to join Karen, so he could spend the weekend with their sons, and slept on the sofa.
She said: “Simon wasn’t in a good mood.
“I could tell.
“When we were married he could be grumpy, fly into a mood.
“But I’ve never seen him violent before.”
As they sat on their veranda Karen, wearing just a towel, took the call from David.
She said: “I get a bad signal so I walked away to chat.
“David had rung earlier in the day and I’d done the same to get a signal.
“After a few minutes Simon came over and signalled for me to get off the phone.
“I ignored him.
“Then he returned looking angry.
“I carried on but he grabbed my phone.
“He ended the call and held it so I couldn’t get it.
“He was shouting about me ‘shagging a Spanish waiter’.
“I was horrified.
“Simon was threatening to throw my phone in the pool.
“All my photos of the boys were on there and weren’t backed up.
“He was so angry, he chucked it in anyway.
“I jumped in but the towel was stopping me getting to it.
“I got out of the pool, ran back into our apartment and put on my costume.
“Then I dived in again and got it.”
I woke up in pool of blood... I'm scarred for life
Karen went to a neighbour’s while Simon remained in their apartment with the boys.
Seconds later the MP stormed round to the neighbour’s flat.
Karen said: “I didn’t want another scene.
“I said it was best I left and went back to our apartment, where the boys still were.”
Karen locked the back door behind her but Simon followed.
She said: “He started kicking it, screaming, ‘Let me in’.
“I was petrified.
“He was being loud, shouting, kicking.”
Plastic and metal parts flew from the door towards Karen then the thick glass crashed, in one piece, on to her.
Karen said: “Everyone nearby heard the noise.
“Someone called the emergency services.”
Simon was arrested and taken to the cells in handcuffs.
She was rushed to hospital by ambulance while a neighbour looked after sons.
She said: “In A&E they put a cover on my head so I couldn’t see the injuries.
“But the doctors’ faces said it all.
“I knew it was bad.”
Karen was sedated before they stitched two large wounds that spread from under her armpit across her right breast.
She said: “There are 40 in total.
“I woke up in the early hours and looked down at the bandages covering my stitches and cried.”
A neighbour picked her up and explained that Simon was still in a police cell.
Karen said: “It was just so horrid, him being arrested for violence.
“But I didn’t want revenge.
“I had to go back to the police station once I wasn’t so groggy and confirm I didn’t want to press charges.
“They wanted me to, but I’d made up my mind.”
On Tuesday she went to court to confirm her decision.
She said: “It was in the corridor.
“Simon was still locked up but his solicitor was there.
“I said I wouldn’t press charges and signed paperwork.
“His solicitor said Simon wanted to talk.”
Karen fights back tears as she describes her ex-husband that day.
She said: “He looked almost like a little boy, so sad, vulnerable, scared.
“He said to me, ‘I’m sorry for everything that has happened’.
“He said he blamed me too.
“He said I shouldn’t have locked him out.
“I do feel partly to blame.”
Now Karen is worried she will lose her romance with David.
She said: “I haven’t told him the full story.
“I don’t want him to think he’s to blame.
“I just said we had a row and the glass fell out of the door.
“When he saw my injuries he was lovely, caring.
“I want to keep our relationship private.
“He’s a wonderful man.
“He has changed the way I think.
“Since meeting him I am not bothered about money, fame, all those things.
“I hope we have a future.”
Meanwhile, Simon is facing a second police probe.
A member of the public has written to Greater Manchester Police, concerned Karen may have been “pressured” to drop the case.
She said: “I hope Simon gets help.
“I will struggle to forgive him.
“I realise he could have killed me.
“He was a great MP but he has messed things up.”
