"It's a very busy roundabout and they were just on the edge.

"They looked pretty happy but I was wondering where they'd come from.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "The farmer was on his way within minutes to round them up, and two police officers and a PCSO were on hand to assist him."

But this was not the first time Beth has been confronted with some roaming livestock.

Beth said: "I've had something like this before in Worcester, I was driving at nighttime when some cows came towards me and I could see their eyes."

A police spokesman explained the sheep escaped squeezed through a hole in a fence which the farmer said he had blocked with a plank but it had been removed.

He added: "The farmer and the officers got them back in the field and made sure the hole had been fixed again.

"No sheep were injured during the incident."
