FOOTAGE has emerged showing US gold medallist swimmer Ryan Lochte clubbing in Rio reportedly filmed on the night he falsely claimed he was the victim of a gunpoint robbery.

The US athlete can be seen smiling with fellow swimmer Jimmy Feigen before he turns the camera around to show a packed nightclub, with the caption 'What'.

Pictures have also emerged of the 32-year-old with two Brazilian socialites purportedly taken just hours before he claimed he was the victim of an armed mugging.

Lying Ryan is seen cosying up to two beautiful teens in Club France just hours before concocting his bogus robbery story to help hide his wild night of women and partying.

Lochte today apologised for the incident, which also involved Feigen and swimmers Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger.

The shamed swimmer, 32, said that drinking in a foreign country with friends was “traumatic” in a statement published on his Instagram page.

She said she was "shocked" to read articles about what had happened to the group after the night out.

The revelations come after the US Olympic Committee issued an apology, clarifying that Lochte and three other members of its swimming team were not mugged.

Earlier, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger flew back to Miami after being questioned by Brazilian police over the incident at a petrol station.

The pair were originally hauled off a plane as they tried to leave Brazil on Wednesday.
