ISIS-K leader ‘arrested as suicide bombers blow themselves up in firefight with Taliban after Kabul mosque bombing’
A LEADER of ISIS-K has been arrested after the Kabul mosque bombing as the jihadis' fighters blew themselves up in a battle with the Taliban.
The bomb targeted the sprawling Eidgah Mosque, where a memorial service was being held for the mother of Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, killing a number of civilians.
In response, the Taliban reportedly captured a senior ISIS-K figure in the jihadis’ stronghold of Nangarhar province.
According to reports, he is the governor or deputy governor of the Khorasan region that fanatics control.
He was seen in the back of a car with an armed Taliban fighter, in pictures circulating on social media.
Another ISIS-K leader Abu Omar Khorasani, was recently executed by the Taliban after being captured.
In the aftermath of the bombing, Taliban special forces swooped on an ISIS-K cell hiding in a house in the north of Kabul.
A gun battle ensued in which the ISIS-K fighters managed to keep the Taliban at bay for a while but then reportedly blew themselves up with suicide bombs.

Local media had reported heavy clashes in Kabul’s 17th district and residents said they had heard explosions and gunfire during the night.
Unverified pictures show what is claimed is the aftermath of the battle with flames coming from a house and vehicle on the road.
In statement on Twitter, Mujahid said: "The ISIS base was entirely destroyed and all of the ISIS members inside were killed as a result of this decisive and successful attack.”
ISIS-K claimed responsibility for the attack on Kabul airport that killed 170, including 13 U.S troops.
The group said it carried out bomb attacks in the eastern city of Jalalabad.
The terrorist group are estimated to be up 10,000 in number and originally formed in 2015.
The "K" refers to the historical region of Greater Khorasan, which covers Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan and others.
They have been a consistent threat to security in Afghanistan, carrying out brutal suicide bombings and vile ceremonial executions.
Propaganda churned out by the group shows them posing with the traditional black and white flag of ISIS.
The banner became synonymous with the most repulsive violence when the group held power in Syria and Iraq.
They are led by terrorist warlord Shahab al-Muhajir, a former al-Qaeda fighter, who took power in April 2020 after their previous boss, Abdullah Orokzai, was captured by Afghan forces.
Al-Muhajir is said to be known as "The Urban Lion" due to his skills with guerrilla warfare and planning suicide bomb attacks in cities.

Footage which has emerged has shown them beheading victims, and in one video they are even claimed to have used two children to kill prisoners in orange jumpsuits.
