PARTS of the UK could be hit with snow within weeks as temperatures dive by 10C.
Experts predict that higher parts of the UK are likely to see some snowfall towards the latter part of October but Brits will have to battle wet and windy conditions in the coming days.
The Met Office has already warned temperatures in some areas could plummet by 10C as autumnal conditions grip the country.
Met Office senior meteorologist Greg Dewhurst told The Sun Online: “We’re likely to see some snowy weather in higher parts as October moves into November.
“Likely areas to be affected are the Scottish mountains as well as higher ground in northern England and northern Wales.
“Low areas are unlikely to see any.
“It’s quite normal for this time of year.”

Brits though have to first get through at least three days of wet and windy conditions affecting most of the country.
Winds could top 70mph at times and there could be 5mm of rain every hour in the worst downpours.
Friday is expected to get off to a wet start first thing, particularly across the North although this will clear up and bring in some sunny spells along with the showers.
Despite the showers it is predicted to be a brighter day even with heavy showers in Scotland and the north west.
Temperatures in the south will hit around 18C while it will be colder in the north with the mercury reaching on average 14C.
The wet and windy conditions are expected to continue throughout the weekend as low pressure moves in from the Atlantic, according to the Met Office.
That band of low pressure is predicted to move north-easterly bringing with it heavy showers.
Northern parts are once again predicted to see temperatures around 14C across the weekend while southern areas will see slightly warmer temperatures around 17C.
The Met Office forecast until October 7 warns: "This will bring showers or longer spells of rain, heavy at times, too many areas. Strong winds are also likely, particularly along coasts.
"As this area of low pressure moves away another is likely to move to the north of the UK.
"This will bring further showers or longer spells of rain to the north and northwest, along with the potential for strong winds."
They have predicted that temperatures in some spots could be 10 degrees Celsius lower than it was a week ago.
The Met Office’s Aidan McGivern previously said: “There's a risk of coastal gales on Thursday night into Friday, and a spell of fairly heavy rainfall crossing the UK early on Friday.
"It's likely to be a narrow band but it could be fairly lively feature as it pushes through, finally clearing by the afternoon to sunny spells and showers."

The weekend is set to be just as blustery, he warned.
It's a far cry from the stunning late-summer sunshine of last week, when the UK was warmer than Lisbon.
