Theresa May has more support from Labour Party members than Jeremy Corbyn, poll finds
More of the party's voters are satisfied with the new PM than with their own leader
LABOUR supporters are more impressed with Theresa May than Jeremy Corbyn – a shock poll claimed today.
The new ‘Iron Lady’ is going down a storm with the public with 54 per cent of voters satisfied with her first month – Ipsos Mori said.
But she even scores higher among Labour voters than the party’s own leftie leader.
Some 45 per cent of Labour supporters are satisfied with Theresa May – compared with only 39 per cent when it comes to Jeremy Corbyn.
And nearly half of Labour voters are “dissatisfied” with their arch leftie ruler.
Gideon Skinner, head of political research at Ipsos Mori, said that only Tony Blair had enjoyed a better start to life in No.10 in recent years.
He said: “It’s not unusual for a new Prime Minister to experience a honeymoon with voters, even if it doesn’t last – this is certainly true for Theresa May.
“What is notable is the extent of her lead over her opponent Jeremy Corbyn, in the way the public rates them in doing their job.”
The poll also gives the Tories their biggest lead over Labour since 2009.
Asked how they would vote in a General Election, 45 per cent of the public plug for the Conservatives, against 34 per cent for Labour.
This would hand the Tories their biggest victory at the polling booth since 1970.
