What did the FBI statement about Brian Laundrie say?

The statement revealed that “On September 22, 2021, the U.S. District Court of Wyoming issued a federal arrest warrant for Brian Christopher Laundrie."

"The warrant was issued pursuant to a Federal Grand Jury indictment for violation of federal statute 18 U.S.C 1029(a)(1): 'Use of Unauthorized Access Devices' related to Mr Laundrie's activities following the death of Gabrielle Petito.”

"While this warrant allows law enforcement to arrest Mr Laundrie, the FBI and our partners across the country continue to investigate the facts and circumstances of Ms Petito's homicide," said FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Michael Schneider in a statement shared to Twitter.

"We urge individuals with knowledge of Mr Laundrie's role in this matter or his current whereabouts to contact the FBI."

"No piece of information is too small or inconsequential to support our efforts in this investigation," the statement added.

What did Brian Laundrie's arrest warrant say?

The actual arrest warrant allows any law enforcement officer to be “commanded to arrest and bring before a United States magistrate judge without unnecessary delay.” This could apply to Brian, who is accused of stealing an unspecified individual's Capital One debit card and running up a $1,000 balance from August 31 through September 1, according to the indictment.

The purchases seem to violate a federal statute (use of unauthorized access devices), so Brian was indicted by a federal grand jury.

The arrest warrant was signed by Kelly H. Rankin, Chief Magistrate Judge, and lists the date signed as September 22 and the city and state as Cheyenne, Wyoming.

The news statement from the FBI also noted that they were still seeking information from anyone who used the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Ground between August 27 and August 30, or those who "may have had contact with Ms Petito or Mr Laundrie," or anyone who may have seen their van.

Laundrie returned home to Florida alone in the couple's van on September 1, about two months into the couple's four-month cross-country road trip. He immediately got a lawyer and refused to cooperate with the police.

Brian's remains were found at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park on October 20 and were confirmed as his through dental record comparison on October 21. Brian was last seen on September 14 by his parents.
