Brian Laundrie was gripped by book called The Invisible Man that saw stalker fake suicide & torture girlfriend in film

BRIAN Laundrie posted about a book on social media called The Invisible Man just weeks before his fiancee Gabby Petito went missing during their cross-country road trip, and he later vanished.

Laundrie, 23, is currently in relation to 22-year-old Petito's disappearance. He has not yet been named a suspect but is considered a "person of interest", investigators said.

Petito was reported missing by her mother on September 11, ten days after Laundrie returned home to Florida alone in the couple's white Ford Transit van.

Human remains matching Petito's description were found inside Grand Teton National Park on Tuesday, but they have not yet been officially identified.

Laundrie has also since vanished, having last been seen on September 14. He told his parents he was going hiking in Carlton Reserve but never returned.

Police resumed their search efforts to find him inside the 25,000-acre nature reserve on Tuesday, having previously said they'd "exhausted all avenues" in their attempts to locate him.

'CHILLING' SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

As the Petito family desperately awaits answers, Laundrie's in the weeks leading up to Petito's disappearance is being scrutinized online.

On a Pinterest profile that appears to belong to Laundrie, the 23-year-old pinned several images depicting violence, death, and references to movies and pop culture in a folder titled "watercolor."

At least in the folder of 128 "pins" reference H. G. Well's science fiction novel, The Invisible Man.

The book was loosely adapted into a feature film last year, telling the story of a crazed scientist who fakes his suicide and makes himself invisible to stalk and terrorize his ex-girlfriend.

Also featured in the folder are sketches of skulls, paintings of Joaquin Phoneix's depiction of The Joker, and images of Frankenstein.

One of the pins, which displays fourth in the folder, shows a shadowed figure leaning down to stab .

'DON'T TRY TO FIND ME'

In a different folder, Laundrie ominously saved a pin called "The Opposite of Lost."

The image, saved to a folder titled "my Heart", features pale purple and pink clouds. Also written beneath are the words: "Don't try to find me. I have finally escaped my 'master's' wicked clutches.

"To the others, I say: JOIN ME. Bite the hand that feeds you. Vive La Beberte - Pierre."

The bizarre image appears to originate from a missing dog flier that was spotted in Portland, Oregon, in 2006. Oregon, incidentally, was the final planned destination of Petito and Laundrie's trip.

Also featured in the same folder is a series of quotes, including one from the movie Fight Club which reads, "It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything."

Additionally, Laundrie previously shared a host of chilling original before he and Gabby commenced their doomed cross-country road trip.

STRANGE ART & BOOKS

One such post, dated July 8, 2020, shows what appears to be a man wearing a wolf mask, sat in a chair and holding a blood-soaked knife, with red splatters up his arms and legs.

Behind the subject's head is a red circle, with three other animal mask-wearing figures holding guns and a bat.

A second image, captioned "Grim Reaper leading sheep to the slaughter", shows a herd of sheep surrounded by ghoulish figures wielding scythes.

Some of the reapers have been carved into mousetraps and outlined in red.

In a clip on the couple's YouTube page, Laundrie was also , by Jeff VanderMeer, which is about a group of women who go missing.

The story focuses on four women who explore a fictional coastal location known as Area X - which has been cut off from civilization for 30 years.

Three of the women die while the fourth character remains in the mystery location permanently.

SEARCH FOR LAUNDRIE

Laundrie last week was named a person of interest in connection with his fiancée's disappearance, but police emphasized Friday that he was not wanted for a crime.

On Sunday, remains believed to belong to Petito were found at a campground in Bridger-Teton National Forest, near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where the couple had been staying before she vanished.

The remains were "consistent" with Petito, investigators said. An autopsy is being carried out on Tuesday to identify them.

Meanwhile, on Monday, police were seen towing away Laundrie's silver Mustang from his parent's home in North Port as they carried out a search warrant.

The FBI removed  from the home as more than 20 agents went inside and hauled out several boxes of evidence.

It's believed that Laundrie may have driven the Mustang when he allegedly went for a hike in the Sarasota area last week, the last time his family claim they saw him.

Laundrie's parents reportedly told police they realized Brian hadn't come back from his hike "on Wednesday or Thursday," and that's when they went to pick up the Mustang and drove it back to their home.

When asked by local reporter Brian Entin if Laundrie's parents could be leading them in the wrong direction, police said they are "working to corroborate their story."

"They did not say 'we believe the parents or we know for sure that Brian was hiking in this reserve'," shared Entin.

As part of the search police also gained access to a hard drive found in the couple's van.

According to an affidavit, the hard drive may contain "evidence relevant to proving that a felony has been committed."
