Brian Laundrie update – Fiance’s family pay tribute to Gabby Petito after ‘heartbreaking’ discovery of body in Wyoming

THE Laundrie family released a brief statement on Sunday evening after the FBI announced human remains found in Grand Teton National Park are believed to be Gabby Petito.

According to NewsNationNow reporter Brian Entin on Twitter, released a statement through their family attorney.

"The news about Gabby Petito is heartbreaking," the statement reads.

The brief statement also said that " prays for Gabby and her family."

Vlogger Gabby 22, had been traveling across America since July and was last seen on August 24 leaving a  hotel with her fiancé Brian Laundrie.

They visited national parks and tourist attractions before she went missing.

Brian returned home along from the trip, sparking an urgent search for Gabby.

Laundrie's father Christopher 'Chris' Laundrie, 62, and mother Roberta Laundrie, 55, are residents of Wabasso Avenue in North Port, .

On Friday, September 17 the North Port police went to Laundrie's parents' house to speak with

It then emerged that Brian was also missing.

According to Brian Laundrie's attorney, the police went to the Florida home to remove items to aid in the search for him.

In a tweet, the police department said, "His family says they believe he entered the area earlier this week. More details when available."

Laundrie's location is still unknown.

While Petito's mother, Nicole Schmidt, revealed that she heard from her daughter on August 27 and 30, she told  she is not sure if it was actually her as only text messages were exchanged.

"It was just a text. I did not verbally speak to her," she told the media outlet.

Cops found the couple's Ford Transit van in North Port, , during the weekend of September 11 - when Gabby's parents reported her disappearance.

As the investigation continues, Laundrie reportedly remains a person of interest.

On September 14, Laundrie issued a statement through his lawyer, saying: "This is an extremely difficult time for both the Petito family and the Laundrie family.

"I understand that a search has been organized for Miss Petito in or near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. On behalf of the Laundrie family it is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is re-united with her family.

"On the advice of counsel the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment."
