Pete Buttigieg and husband Chasten welcome twin babies and the former mayor shares sweet pic and reveals names
PETE Buttigieg and husband Chasten are now the proud parents of twin babies.
The former mayor announced the sweet news in a social media post and revealed their names.
"Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents," the U.S. transportation secretary tweeted. "We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family."
The sweet snap shows the smiling couple looking at one another while holding their new additions in each of their arms.
Back on August 17 Buttigieg announced they were in a Twitter message.
"For some time, Chasten and I have wanted to grow our family," Buttigieg shared on Twitter at the time. "We’re overjoyed to share that we’ve become parents! The process isn’t done yet and we’re thankful for the love, support, and respect for our privacy that has been offered to us. We can’t wait to share more soon."
The couple have not revealed if the babies were brought into their lives via surrogacy or adoption.

A previous New York Times report said they had been exploring adoption possibilities in recent months.
Buttigieg, 39, married then-Chasten Glezman, now 32, in June 2018.
The couple have already been inundated with messages of congratulations.
"Oh my heart!" actor George Takei said.
Meghan McCain tweeted: "Awwwww, congratulations!!!!!!!!"
Buttigieg was the first openly gay man to become a major presidential candidate.
He was also the first to be confirmed for a US cabinet position.
The couple already have two dogs named Truman and Buddy.
