Daring pilot swoops inches away from ground in front of terrified walkers as he fights fire in France
Brave act comes as wildfires wreak havoc in France, prompting mass evacuations and hospitalising three with serious injuries
A BRAVE pilot feels the heat at perilously low heights – just inches above the ground.
The fire-fighting plane flew past shocked walkers in southern France yesterday as it raced to pick up gallons of water to douse fire-ravaged forests near Marseille.
Several wildfires have decimated large areas near the port city, with huge clouds of smoke covering the skies.
The smoke from the blaze has caused delays at Marseille airport, with planes being diverted to other sites.
At least three people have been hospitalised with serious injuries.
According to local media, several separate fires have been raging their way across the countryside in Bouches-du-Rhone, which is the most densely populated area of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region of France.
Residents in some towns have been evacuated, as officials rush to fight fires strengthened by strong winds.
