The horrors of Thursday’s suicide bomb that massacred 170 men, women and children defy comprehension.

But the image of the innocent one-year-old swaddled in bandages on a hospital bed speaks volumes.

Little Muhammad Raza suffered terrible shrapnel wounds in the terrorist outrage that killed his London taxi driver granddad and his father.

Our Foreign Office invited the family to Britain and, tragically, they were queuing for a plane when the ISIS-K bomber struck.

Thousands have been abandoned as the West wraps up its evacuation.

This poor child must not be among them.

His suffering symbolises all that has gone wrong with our hapless withdrawal from this war-torn country.

The authorities must do all they can to get him on what could be a life-saving flight back to his mother’s arms in London.

Boris Johnson has rightly praised our troops for their work in Afghanistan.

But many of their gains, from rights for women to stopping terrorism, have gone up in smoke.

Britain urgently needs a new strategy for dealing with the Taliban.

But first we need to get that little boy here as quickly as we can.
