Northamptonshire Police said the bodies of a woman and a man were found at the property shortly before 1pm on Friday.

A major investigation was launched, with post-mortem examinations taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The force had been called over a concern for welfare in regards to the pair - who were confirmed dead at the scene.

On Saturday, DI Nicole Main, of the major crime investigation team, said: "At this stage we believe this to be a contained incident, and would like to offer the reassurance to the local community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with these two deaths.

"Our fast-paced and extensive investigation continues and our teams are working extremely hard to establish the circumstances of this incident."

Neighbours spoke of their shock over the mystery double deaths.

Minod told "I just can't believe it - we didn't know anything about the people that lived there, but it is a nice place."

Another resident, who spoke anonymously, said the first they knew of the deaths was when "many police cars" suddenly appeared in the street.

They added: "I think there were just two people that lived there, they weren't young but weren't old. They were probably in their mid-30s.

"It's very sad to have this so close."

CCTV SOUGHT

Major Crime officers are seeking information, including CCTV and smart doorbell footage from the surrounding area.

Det Ch Insp Joe Banfield, said: "Following this tragic discovery, we are working at pace to establish what has happened and are asking anyone who believes they may be able to help us to get in touch as soon as possible.

"I know many people will be concerned about this incident, and I would like to offer our reassurance that we have a large number of officers dedicated to our investigation."

Anyone with any information can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
