THIS is the terrifying moment a couple’s boat was surrounded by sharks and a massive saltwater crocodile.

Marg and Keith Thomas, both in their 60s, were on a sailing trip around Australia when they saw the frightening creatures.

The huge saltwater crocodile approached the boat in Kimberley, Western Australia

The animals approached their boat in the Hunter River System, at Porosus Creek, Kimberley, Western Australia, on 17 June.

But the hardy pensioners, from Freemantle, Western Australia, were thrilled find themselves encircled by the deadly creatures.

Marg said: “The lemon sharks frequent the back of the boat often during the day and night.

“On this day a cheeky salt water crocodile come in for a look see as well, they were not bothered by each other at all.

“They swam around each other for about a minute, no problems with each other, just interested in the boat.

“We have seen many crocs and lemon sharks on this trip but never together at the same time.

“We were on the deck at the back of our boat when I saw this unfold.

“They were about four metres away from us and it lasted for about a minute and then they disappeared off in their own directions.

“When this was over I thought that I can’t wait to show my grandchildren this photo – they would love seeing a croc and a shark together!”

Marg and Keith’s daughter Genene Daly and her husband Buster joined them on the trip by seaplane and couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw the snap.

The pensioner took a picture to show daughter Genene when she came to visit with her hubby Buster

Genene, from Rockingham, said: “To have the presence of mind to get that picture is amazing.

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

“She just wanted to show her grandchildren and her children.”

Australia is famous for its dangerous wildlife, but saltwater crocodiles are by far the most lethal animal in the country.

‘Salties’ can grow to weigh over a ton and kill between one and two people every year in Australia.

Lemon sharks are less deadly but still dangerous, growing up to about 10 ft long and occasionally biting humans without provocation.
