It comes just weeks after his gagging order ended — allowing him to speak in public for the first time in almost six years.

He moaned about his difficulties finding a job after he was jailed for 5½ years in 2016 for encouraging Muslims to join IS.

Choudary said he applied as part of his Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement, administered by the Public Protection Unit, alongside the probation and prison services, and police.

The former al-Muhajiroun leader, from East London, told The Sun: “All the jobs I have tried to get, the police or MAPPA have said, ‘No, that is not suitable’.

“Before I even apply for a job, the employer has to speak to the Home Office to apply for a licence to be able to pay me.

“Then I have to inform them I am a convicted terrorist. Who is going to do that?

The thought of Anjem Choudary as some sort of Del Boy figure would raise quite a few eyebrows.

"I said I could trade on a market — my dad used to work in the market  . . . it is a very noble thing to do in Islam — but they said they did not want me trading.”

A source said: “The plan was to sell shoes and clothes, and maybe wallets.
