Fury as Georgia Vake gym bans women on their PERIOD from swimming pool ‘because they contaminate the water’
Fitness club accused of being misogynistic and sexist for the controversial sign
A POOL has been thrown in the deep end after a sign apparently banning women from going into the pool while on their periods surfaced.
An image of the sign at the Vake Swimming Pool and Fitness Club in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, which reads: "Dear Ladies! Do not go to the pool during periods." was shared by on social media, immediately being slammed as sexist.
Sophie Tabatadze shared the image, writing: "Vake Swimming Pool and Fitness Club, do you even realize how offensive this is? And, by the way, since according to your rules we are not allowed to use a swimming pool 5-6 days each month, do we get a preferential price compared with men? "
The outraged gym-goer was inundated with comments criticising the fitness club's sign, with one pointing out many people urinated in the pool.
She later wrote: oh, sorry. "when you go into a public swimming pool you should accept certain level of germs. And since when are men exemplary clean creatures?"

Another comment on social media said: "Oh, I have another awesome idea for you! Women should not be allowed to compete in the olympics!"
The fitness club itself has a swimming pool, sauna and fitness club and towels for gym-goers, even meriting mentions in local guidebooks as one of the more luxurious and modern pools in the area.
The pool has since released a statement, saying: "Our statement is not sexist and has a preventive objective.
"We had a case, when the water was contaminated due to which we had suffered damage. We try to follow norms of hygiene and we ask our members to do the same."
