Mum of toddler twins who died inside hot car reveals heartbreak of her first child dying after just 19 days… as father is accused of abandoning girls after he had been drinking

THE mother of two 16-month-old twins who died after being left in a searing hot car "for hours" has revealed her heartbreak at also losing her firstborn in 2014.

It comes as their father was arrested and accused by police of having been drinking before he left the toddlers in the sweltering hot vehicle.

He could yet face second-degree murder charges depending investigation findings, such as toxicology reports.

"They were sweet, loving, caring. They were always laughing. They were the best thing that ever happened to me because I lost a little girl in 2014. She weighed one pound as well, just like them."

Captain Chris Dobbs, of the Carrollton Police Department, previously stated the twins were left in the SUV "for a period of time".

Local weather data said temperatures peaked at over 32C on Thursday afternoon.

Captain Dobbs, whose department are leading the investigation, spoke about the neighbours’ valiant to save the youngsters.

He said: "There were some individuals holding the infants in a pool and actually had some ice packs also.”

The entire community has been shocked by the tragedy.

Neighbour Regina Cleveland spoke about the searing heat in which the babies were left in.

She said: "It's sad because I have grandchildren and I can't even imagine my grandkids leaving me - and especially under those conditions - it was so hot today."
