THE mother of two 16-month-old twins who died after being left in a searing hot car "for hours" has revealed her heartbreak at also losing her firstborn in 2014.
It comes as their father was arrested and accused by police of having been drinking before he left the toddlers in the sweltering hot vehicle.
Asa North, 24, left his toddlers, Ariel and Alaynah, strapped to their seats on a sweltering summer day in Georgia, U.S, before they were pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital on Thursday.
The children were pulled from the vehicle by the desperate father who tried to revive them in a nearby paddling pool, according to police in Carrollton, Carroll County.
According to the , North admitted to police he had been drinking.
He could yet face second-degree murder charges depending investigation findings, such as toxicology reports.
Their mother, Breal Ellis, was in Atlanta visiting her sister, who has been involved in a car accident, when the tragedy occurred.
Breal told the paper she was particularly protective of the girls after losing her first daughter in 2014.
She said: "I always dreamed of being a mum. I'm so scared to go to the funeral, I feel like God needed them more because they didn't have any sins."
She told she was unable to eat or sleep since her two girls died.
"They were sweet, loving, caring. They were always laughing. They were the best thing that ever happened to me because I lost a little girl in 2014. She weighed one pound as well, just like them."

Captain Chris Dobbs, of the Carrollton Police Department, previously stated the twins were left in the SUV "for a period of time".
Local weather data said temperatures peaked at over 32C on Thursday afternoon.
Captain Dobbs, whose department are leading the investigation, spoke about the neighbours’ valiant to save the youngsters.
He said: "There were some individuals holding the infants in a pool and actually had some ice packs also.”
The entire community has been shocked by the tragedy.
Neighbour Regina Cleveland spoke about the searing heat in which the babies were left in.
She said: "It's sad because I have grandchildren and I can't even imagine my grandkids leaving me - and especially under those conditions - it was so hot today."
