Transport Secretary Chris Grayling slams rail union chiefs after they pledge to hold another strike
MP says passengers should not be made to sufffer like this
TRANSPORT Secretary Chris Grayling lashed out at rail union chiefs to insist they’re striking as an “excuse to be militant”.
Having pledged to stay out of the bitter stand off, the government’s transport supremo waded in last night as the far left RMT called a third walkout threatening to close down the nation’s train network.
Speaking after the Eurostar strike was announced he fumed: “This feels like an excuse to be militant and it’s an extraordinary contrast.
“We’re announcing a massive programme of modernisation of the railways, improving the situation for passengers.
“At the same time we have the unions trying to turn the clock back and hang on to working practices that are decades out of date.
“Passengers should not be made to suffer like this.”
