His mother, who can be heard sobbing "we are free", pushes her son's hands away as she makes the symbolic gesture on her way to freedom.

The family were rescued from the city of Manbij on Saturday by US-backed Syrian Democratic forces, the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights claims.

Rebels caught the jihadis dressed in full-length black niqabs attempting to flee the city with desperate civilians.
