Mum Maxine is said to have reached out for help with his autism and ADHD after Davison’s behaviour became increasingly erratic.

He had begun to call himself “Satan” and said he was “going to Hell” in the weeks before the massacre.

However, pals said Maxine was turned down by understaffed mental health teams.

But independent Plymouth health care group Livewell Southwest said Davison had received support over the past 18 months.

A spokesman said: “When mental health services were approached for help it was given.

"The service continued throughout lockdown and was strengthened to help people who were struggling.”

Davison, 22, part of the sex-starved loner death cult Incel, used his pump-action shotgun to murder five people then shot himself dead on Thursday evening.

His licence, held since 2018, was revoked and gun confiscated in December after he battered a teen.

Devon and Cornwall Police returned them last month after he completed an anger management course.

Police should ask a gun licence applicant’s GP for relevant details.

It is not clear if Davison’s support was shared with his doctor.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is probing “decision-making” by officers in returning the weapon.

The force says it cannot comment.
