Asylum centre evacuated after Iranian migrant threatened to blow himself in Danish town of Funen

Man arrested after Danish police had imposed a no-fly zone over the town west of Copenhagen

AN Iranian man has been arrested after threatening to blow himself up on the roof of a Danish asylum centre.

The unidentified man reportedly made threats at the Asylcentre Nyborg on the island of Funen.

The 22-year-old has since been arrested by police.

Onlookers described their fear after seeing him 'holding something in his hand' while wearing a helmet.

Danish police confirmed a no-fly zone had earlier been imposed and added: "The person is on the asylum centre’s roof. Police and rescue personnel are on location and the residents of the centre are being evacuated."

It confirmed all residents were safely evacuated.

The centre is west of capital Copenhagen and can accommodate up to 500 people.
