A COLOSSAL fire has engulfed the summer night sky over Cornwall with thick plumes of smoke disrupting train services and terrifying locals.
The huge blaze broke out at a tyre plant in the Cornish village of St Erth near to the town of Hayle.
A blanket of black smoke covered the rural community causing havoc to travel services.
All trains to St Ives and Penzance have been shut down as authorities wait until the fire dies down.
The blaze was first spotted by frightened residents at 8:30pm and the smoke could be seen from miles away.
Brave firefighters are currently battling the powerful blaze.

Fire and Rescue investigators have warned locals to stay indoors and to keep their windows sealed shut.
In response to the blaze, Great Western Railway tweeted: "Because of a fire near the railway we're unable to run via St Erth.
"Service suspended St Erth to St Ives/Penzance."
And Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service posted: "We are currently attendance at a significant fire in St Erth residents in local area advised to stay indoors and keep windows shut."
