Woman sends picture of partner’s strangled corpse to pal for advice on how to dispose of body
The former prostitute was found guilty of murder after leaving the body in her apartment when the friend refused to help
A WOMAN sent a friend a photo of her boyfriend’s strangled corpse in a bid for advice on how to dispose of his body.
The murderer, known only as Kanzade B, ended up leaving the body in her apartment after her pal refused to help – which led to her arrest.
Kanzade killed Muammer Basak, 24, at their home in the city of Konya in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey.
The corpse was discovered by the victim’s concerned older brother, who called a locksmith to get into the apartment when he could not reach his brother by phone.
Police launched a murder hunt after tests revealed Muammer had been strangled.
Officers checked CCTV and saw his girlfriend leaving the building with a suitcase after his death.
A search of the apartment uncovered a note written by the man, containing an address in the city of Kayseri in Turkey’s Central Anatolia.
Police in Konya liaised with their colleagues in Kayseri, who raided the address and found the girlfriend hiding at her aunt’s home.
Officials say Kanzade made a full confession and told them she met Muammer while working as a prostitute in the city of Antalya on the Mediterranean coast.
She said they began a relationship and moved to Konya to live together.
The girlfriend said she killed him after he came home drunk one night and started beating her.
Kanzade told police: “I called my friend Huseyin S. I told him I cannot bare the beating anymore and that I will myself.
“Huseyin said: ‘Instead of killing yourself go kill him’.”
After strangling her boyfriend with a silk scarf as he lay on his bed, she called her friend back and told him what she had done.
She added: “He didn’t believe me so I sent him a photo, I asked him to help me move the body but he said he couldn’t. I tried to wrap the body in a blanket and take it out but it was too heavy so I left it.”
Kanzade told police officers she turned the air conditioning on to reduce the smell of the body and caught a bus to her aunt’s house.
Police have charged her with murder and Huseyin with being her accomplice.
Both were found guilty but still have to be sentenced by a higher court.
