When was Carrie Symonds and Boris Johnson's second baby born?

Boris Johnson and Carrie welcomed a baby girl to the world on December 9, 2021.

A statement released read: "Prime Minister Boris Johnson and wife Carrie have announced “the birth of a healthy baby girl at a London hospital earlier today.

"Both mother and daughter are doing very well.

"The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support."

The happy mum announced her pregnancy on Instagram earlier in 2021 by snapping a picture of a blue baby's pram along with a caption.

She wrote: ''Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas.

''At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken.

''I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves.

''Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well.

''I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too,'' she added.

Will Boris Johnson take paternity leave?

It is currently unknown whether the PM will take paternity leave to spend time with his family.

Before the birth of his youngest son, Wilfred, Mr Johnson had said he wanted to take a fortnight off when his baby was expected to be born in June.

But Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas was born on April, 29, 2020,  just 16 days after Boris fought for his life in intensive care with coronavirus - and after Carrie's own fight with the deadly bug.

The PM had to delay his leave to lead the country in the fight against coronavirus.

According to the Government rules, Mr Johnson must take his two-week paternity leave within 56 days of the child’s birth.

How many kids have the couple got together?

The Prime Minister and his wife already had a son Wilfred who turned one at the end of April.

And their latest addition is their second child together.

The little boy named Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, was named after doctors who saved the PM's life while he was battling coronavirus.
