Jet-setting Nigerian Abbas who has 2.5million followers is said to have used email scams to amass his wealth.

When he was nabbed in an FBI raid, he had £29million in cash and 13 luxury cars.

He is also accused of money laundering.

Court records, unsealed in the US, showed how the football team was targeted by a business email compromise scam, where legitimate email addresses are hacked and spoofed.

Abbas’s criminal gang tried to get the top-flight club to hand over £100million in 2019.

The United States Attorney’s Office, which prosecuted Abbas, last night refused to name the Premier League club or reveal whether the team actually handed over £100million.

Another UK business lost £200million and thousands more Brits are feared to have been caught up in the global con.
