Hero mum-of-two, 30, drowned saving son, 9, after diving into lake to rescue him
A HERO mum-of-two drowned saving her son after she selflessly dived into a lake to rescue him.
Natasha Core, 30, died in a lake at Lough Gowna, Co Cavan in Ireland on Wednesday night.
She had gone to the lake with her nine-year-old son to make the most of the recent hot weather.
Her brother Jason Mooney paid tribute to her outside her home.
He told : "“Lost for words, I can’t get my head around it.
"She was an outgoing person, a good mother, she was all for her kids, down to earth – she was just a lovely person. She was taken too soon. She died a hero."
Jason said his sister had followed her son into water and managed to get him to shore but she "just never came out with him".
An emergency response involving the Fire Service, Civil Defence and a helicopter search eventually found Natasha's body near the shoreline.
Natasha was a mum to two young boys, aged four and nine.
Natasha's boyfriend Joseph Donohoe made a heartbreaking tribute to her on social media.
He wrote: "R.I.P to my girlfriend who sadly passed away last night, words can’t describe how much I love and miss you.
"Already my heart is broke, me and the boys love you to bits, I hope you get the best bed in heaven because you deserve it, you were the best mother to the boys anyone could ask for, I love you Tasha until we meet again.”
A woman whose kids went to the same school as Natasha's said she was a great mum.
She said: "It is just horrible. She was a wonderful mother. She would go down to the park with her kids, she would be coming here to the lake having picnics, doing fishing with them – she was just a fantastic mother, she was awesome."
Cops said the coroner had been notified and that Natasha's body had been taken to hospital for a post-mortem examination.
