THIS soldier won't be blowing his own trumpet - after playing his bugle out of tune at the Changing of the Guard.

The musician was left red-faced after a French tourist filmed him fluffing his lines outside Buckingham Palace.

Traditionally-dressed soldiers from the Royal Horse Artillery were marching past the palace on their way back to the Hyde Park Barracks when the

trumpeter attempted to play a marching tune.

But the performance was met with uncomfortable silence by onlookers on the Mall.

The Royal Horse Artillery were standing in for the Household Cavalry - which usually performs the ceremonial duty.

And it was quickly revealed that the lance bombardier was not a trained musician and was himself standing in for a colleague.

Army sources defended the solider.

One sources told : "The [Royal Horse Artillery] recently stood in for the [Household Cavalry] during their military training because apart from guarding the Queen they train to fight wars.
"Lance bombardiers pick up their skills as they go. In this case he is both riding the horse and playing the trumpet at the same time. That is not easy."

It was confirmed the trumpeter will not face any disciplinary action for the slip up.

The filmer joked: "Was the cavalryman sick? He played trumpet so badly that it was incredible to hear him just in front of the palace.

"Poor Queen, I hope she's heard nothing!"
