Breastfeeding mum ‘sprayed’ milk at woman who told her to move along in public space
A BREASTFEEDING mum has been accused of squirting her boob at a woman who asked her to move somewhere private as she fed her child — because her husband was being distracted.
The encounter fuelled a furious row about breastfeeding after the woman who was “sprayed” wrote about the incident on Facebook.
An anonymous post to a social media account has claimed the mum, in the middle of feeding her baby in a park in Dartford, overreacted when she was asked to move along, opting instead to swear and spray the woman with her breastmilk.
The prudish poster called the mother out: "To the lady in Dartford park who thought it was appropriate to breastfeed her baby whilst my child and very easily distracted husband sat nearby.
"I don't think it was necessary for you to react the way you did just because I asked you to go somewhere private, telling me to f*** off and squirting me with your boobs was incredibly uncalled for.
“I hope you are ashamed of yourself!"
Social media users have rushed to support the mum, insisting “breast is best”, and slamming the poster’s “ignorant” and “outdated” attitude to breastfeeding.
A number of mothers have joined the debate, sharing all the times they were made to feel uncomfortable when breastfeeding in public.
Meanwhile, other users have criticised the woman's husband's inability to keep his eyes to himself.
Annie Ses Annie reasoned: "I think there's only one tit worth worrying about in this story and that's the distracted husband!"
And Janice Holmes said: "I hope you're ashamed of yourself, her reaction may not have been the right way to deal with your ignorance, but she has every right to feed her child there, if it offended you that much why didn't you move?"
Jayne Overington continued: "You stupid woman! What's wrong, are you that insecure in your marriage that you think your husband prefers a breastfeeding woman to you! Get a bloody life.”
Ciara Bennett added: "If this lady told me to stop breastfeeding my daughter and to go somewhere else I would tell her to do one!
“How sad is it that breastfeeding is seen as a bad thing now and formula feeding is the norm.
"Good luck to the breastfeeding mum who told this lady where to go."
Breastfeeding Mums are protected against discrimination by law, and cannot be asked to leave cafes, shops or public transport while feeding their children.
The NHS England website advises parents: "You shouldn't ever be made to feel uncomfortable about breastfeeding in public.
"In fact, the Equality Act 2010 has made it illegal for anyone to ask a breastfeeding woman to leave a public place, such as a cafe, shop or public transport."
